Context of Deuteronomy 22:27
25“But if the man finds the engaged woman in the field, and the man forces her and lies with her, then only the man who lay with her is to die. 26But to the young woman you are to do nothing—there is no sin in the young woman deserving of death. For this matter is the same as when a man rises against his neighbor and kills him— for he found her in the field, the engaged woman cried out, and there was no one to save her. 28“Suppose a man finds a young virgin who is not engaged, grabs her and lies with her, and they are discovered. 29Then the man who lay with her is to give to the young woman’s father 50 pieces of silver, and she is to be his wife, since he has humiliated her—he may not send her away all his days.

- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 13-3013-30. If a man take a wife, &c.--The regulations that follow might be imperatively needful in the then situation of the Israelites; and yet, it is not necessary that we should curiously and impertinently inquire into them. So far was it from being unworthy of God to leave such things upon record, that the enactments must heighten our admiration of His wisdom and goodness in the management of a people so perverse and so given to irregular passions.
