Context of 2 Chronicles 19:6
4Jehoshaphat dwelt in Jerusalem and he went out again among the people from Beer-sheba over to the hill country of Ephraim and brought them back to Adonai, the God of their fathers. 5He also appointed judges in the land throughout all the fortified cities of Judah, city by city. He said to the judges. “Consider what you are doing, for you do not judge for man but for Adonai who is with you when you pass judgment. 7Now then, let the fear of Adonai be upon you. Be very careful what you do, for there is no injustice or favoritism or bribe-taking with Adonai Eloheinu.” 8In Jerusalem also, Jehoshaphat appointed some of the Levites, kohanim and the leading patriarchs of Israel to render the judgment of Adonai and to settle disputes among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 6Take heed what ye do - A very solemn and very necessary caution; judges should feel themselves in the place of God, and judge as those who know they shall be judged for their judgments.Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 4-11In Jehoshaphat’s judicial reform, he appointed judges in the fortified towns (2 Chronicles 19:5) and a central court in Jerusalem (19:8). He urged all judges to think carefully and to judge with integrity and respect for the Lord. This meant they could not show favoritism or accept bribes, and they had to warn criminals not to sin against the Lord. The reform reinstated the law of Deuteronomy (Deuteronomy 16:18–17:13).Read the comment
