Deuteronomy 17:8-20
8If there shall arise a matterH1697 too hardH6381 for thee in judgmentH4941, between bloodH1818 and bloodH1818, between pleaH1779 and pleaH1779, and between strokeH5061 and strokeH5061, being mattersH1697 of controversyH7379 within thy gatesH8179: then shalt thou ariseH6965, and go upH5927 to the placeH4725 which the LORDH3068 thy GodH430 shall chooseH977; 9And thou shalt comeH935 to the priestsH3548 the LevitesH3881, and to the judgeH8199 that shall be in those daysH3117, and enquireH1875; and they shall showH5046 thee the sentenceH1697 of judgmentH4941: 10And thou shalt doH6213 according to the sentenceH6310H1697, which they of that placeH4725 which the LORDH3068 shall chooseH977 shall showH5046 thee; and thou shalt observeH8104 to doH6213 according to all that they informH3384 thee: 11According to the sentenceH6310 of the lawH8451 which they shall teachH3384 thee, and according to the judgmentH4941 which they shall tellH559 thee, thou shalt doH6213: thou shalt not declineH5493 from the sentenceH1697 which they shall showH5046 thee, to the right handH3225, nor to the leftH8040. 12And the manH376 that will doH6213 presumptuouslyH2087, and will not hearkenH8085 to the priestH3548 that standethH5975 to ministerH8334 there before the LORDH3068 thy GodH430, or to the judgeH8199, even that manH376 shall dieH4191: and thou shalt removeH1197 the evilH7451 from IsraelH3478.1 13And all the peopleH5971 shall hearH8085, and fearH3372, and do no more presumptuouslyH2102.
14When thou art comeH935 into the landH776 which the LORDH3068 thy GodH430 givethH5414 thee, and shalt possessH3423 it, and shalt dwellH3427 in it, and shalt sayH559, I will setH7760 a kingH4428 over me, like as all the nationsH1471 that are aboutH5439 me; 15Thou shalt surelyH7760 setH7760 him kingH4428 over thee, whom the LORDH3068 thy GodH430 shall chooseH977: one from amongH7130 thy brethrenH251 shalt thou setH7760 kingH4428 over thee: thou mayestH3201 not setH5414 a strangerH5237H376 over thee, who is not thy brotherH251. 16But he shall not multiplyH7235 horsesH5483 to himself, nor cause the peopleH5971 to returnH7725 to EgyptH4714, to the end that he should multiplyH7235 horsesH5483: forasmuch as the LORDH3068 hath saidH559 to you, Ye shall henceforthH3254 returnH7725 no more that wayH1870. 17Neither shall he multiplyH7235 wivesH802 to himself, that his heartH3824 may turnH5493 not away: neither shall he greatlyH3966 multiplyH7235 to himself silverH3701 and goldH2091. 18And it shall be, when he sittethH3427 upon the throneH3678 of his kingdomH4467, that he shall writeH3789 him a copyH4932 of this lawH8451 in a bookH5612 out of that which is beforeH6440 the priestsH3548 the LevitesH3881: 19And it shall be with him, and he shall readH7121 in it all the daysH3117 of his lifeH2416: that he may learnH3925 to fearH3372 the LORDH3068 his GodH430, to keepH8104 all the wordsH1697 of this lawH8451 and these statutesH2706, to doH6213 them: 20That his heartH3824 may not be liftedH7311 above his brethrenH251, and that he may not turn asideH5493 from the commandmentH4687, to the right handH3225, or to the leftH8040: to the end that he may prolongH748 his daysH3117 in his kingdomH4467, he, and his childrenH1121, in the midstH7130 of IsraelH3478.
