Matthew 14:6-11

But when Herod’s birthday was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod.1

Therefore he promised with an oath to give her whatever she would ask.

And she, being before instructed by her mother, said, Give me here the head of John the Baptist on a platter.

And the king was sorry: nevertheless for the sake of the oath and them who sat eating with him, he commanded it to be given her .

And he sent, and beheaded John in the prison.

And his head was brought on a platter, and given to the girl: and she brought it to her mother.
