31If I bear witness concerning myself, my witness is not true.

John 5:31 in other versions

Context of John 5:31

29And shall come forth; they that have done good, to the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, to the resurrection of damnation. 30I can of my own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not my own will, but the will of the Father who hath sent me. If I bear witness concerning myself, my witness is not true. 32There is another that beareth witness concerning me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth concerning me is true. 33Ye sent to John, and he bore witness to the truth.
