Context of Ezekiel 35:12
10Because thou hast said, These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we will possess it; whereas the LORD was there: 11therefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will do according to thine anger, and according to thine envy which thou hast shewed out of thy hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them, when I shall judge thee. And thou shalt know that I the LORD have heard all thy blasphemies which thou hast spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, They are laid desolate, they are given us to devour. 13And ye have magnified yourselves against me with your mouth, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard it. 14Thus saith the Lord GOD: When the whole earth rejoiceth, I will make thee desolate.

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 10-15Verses 10-15 When we see the vanity of the world in the disappointments, losses, and crosses, which others meet with, instead of showing ourselves greedy of worldly things, we should sit more loose to them. In the multitude of words, not one is unknown to God; not the most idle word; and the most daring is not above his rebuke. In the destruction of the enemies of the church, God designs his own glory; and we may be sure that he will not come short of his…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 1-15This message of judgment is directed to Edom, Israel’s neighbor to the southeast. It is also called Mount Seir, the main mountain region of Edom. Edom stands as a symbol of all Israel’s enemies. For example, Edom rejoiced when Israel fell (Ezekiel 36:2; see also 25:12–14). When Babylon destroyed Judah, Edom may have thought it had a chance to grow stronger. However, the Lord said that its success would not last long.Read the comment

Edom implied, if he did not express it, in his taunts against Israel, that God had not sufficient power to protect His people.
