Revised Literal Translation
Samuel 2:26-31
Then AbnerH74 calledH7121 to JoabH3097, and saidH559, Shall the swordH2719 devourH398 for everH5331? knowestH3045 thou not that it will be bitternessH4751 in the latter endH314? how long shall it be then, ere thou bidH559 the peopleH5971 returnH7725 from followingH310 their brethrenH251?
And JoabH3097 saidH559, As GodH430 livethH2416, unlessH3884 thou hadst spokenH1696, surely then in the morningH1242 the peopleH5971 had gone upH5927 every oneH376 from followingH310 his brotherH251.12
So JoabH3097 blewH8628 a trumpetH7782, and all the peopleH5971 stood stillH5975, and pursuedH7291 afterH310 IsraelH3478 no more, neither foughtH3898 they any moreH3254.
And AbnerH74 and his menH582 walkedH1980 all that nightH3915 through the plainH6160, and passed overH5674 JordanH3383, and went throughH3212 all BithronH1338, and they cameH935 to MahanaimH4266.
And JoabH3097 returnedH7725 from followingH310 AbnerH74: and when he had gatheredH6908 all the peopleH5971 togetherH6908, there lackedH6485 of David’sH1732 servantsH5650 nineteenH6240H8672 menH376 and AsahelH6214.
But the servantsH5650 of DavidH1732 had smittenH5221 of BenjaminH1144, and of Abner’sH74 menH582, so that threeH7969 hundredH3967 and threescoreH8346 menH376 diedH4191.
