1 Samuel 6:9-19

9And seeH7200, if it goeth upH5927 by the wayH1870 of his own coastH1366 to Beth–shemeshH1053, then he hath doneH6213 us this greatH1419 evilH7451: but if not, then we shall knowH3045 that it is not his handH3027 that smoteH5060 us; it was a chanceH4745 that happened to usH1961.1

10And the menH582 did soH6213; and tookH3947 twoH8147 milchH5763 kineH6510, and tiedH631 them to the cartH5699, and shut upH3607 their calvesH1121 at homeH1004: 11And they laidH7760 the arkH727 of YhwhH3068 upon the cartH5699, and the cofferH712 with the miceH5909 of goldH2091 and the imagesH6754 of their emerodsH2914. 12And the kineH6510 took the straightH3474 wayH1870 to the wayH1870 of Beth–shemeshH1053, and went alongH1980 the highwayH259H4546, lowingH1600 as they wentH1980, and turned not asideH5493 to the right handH3225 or to the leftH8040; and the lordsH5633 of the PhilistinesH6430 wentH1980 afterH310 them unto the borderH1366 of Beth–shemeshH1053. 13And they of Beth–shemeshH1053 were reapingH7114 their wheatH2406 harvestH7105 in the valleyH6010: and they lifted upH5375 their eyesH5869, and sawH7200 the arkH727, and rejoicedH8055 to seeH7200 it. 14And the cartH5699 cameH935 into the fieldH7704 of JoshuaH3091, a Beth–shemiteH1030, and stoodH5975 there, where there was a greatH1419 stoneH68: and they claveH1234 the woodH6086 of the cartH5699, and offeredH5927 the kineH6510 a burnt offeringH5930 unto YhwhH3068. 15And the LevitesH3881 took downH3381 the arkH727 of YhwhH3068, and the cofferH712 that was with it, wherein the jewelsH3627 of goldH2091 were, and putH7760 them on the greatH1419 stoneH68: and the menH582 of Beth–shemeshH1053 offeredH5927 burnt offeringsH5930 and sacrificedH2076 sacrificesH2077 the same dayH3117 unto YhwhH3068. 16And when the fiveH2568 lordsH5633 of the PhilistinesH6430 had seenH7200 it, they returnedH7725 to EkronH6138 the same dayH3117. 17And these are the goldenH2091 emerodsH2914 which the PhilistinesH6430 returnedH7725 for a trespass offeringH817 unto YhwhH3068; for AshdodH795 oneH259, for GazaH5804 oneH259, for AskelonH831 oneH259, for GathH1661 oneH259, for EkronH6138 oneH259; 18And the goldenH2091 miceH5909, according to the numberH4557 of all the citiesH5892 of the PhilistinesH6430 belonging to the fiveH2568 lordsH5633, both of fencedH4013 citiesH5892, and of countryH6521 villagesH3724, even unto the greatH1419 stone of AbelH59, whereon they set downH3240 the arkH727 of YhwhH3068: which stone remaineth unto this dayH3117 in the fieldH7704 of JoshuaH3091, the Beth–shemiteH1030.2

19And he smoteH5221 the menH376 of Beth–shemeshH1053, because they had lookedH7200 into the arkH727 of YhwhH3068, even he smoteH5221 of the peopleH5971 fiftyH2572 thousandH505 and threescore and tenH7657 menH582: and the peopleH5971 lamentedH56, because YhwhH3068 had smittenH5221 many of the peopleH5971 with a greatH1419 slaughterH4347.
