3Which say, It is not near; let us build houses: this city is the caldron, and we be the flesh. 4Therefore prophesy against them, prophesy, O son of man. And the Spirit of Yhwh fell upon me, and said unto me, Speak; Thus saith Yhwh; Thus have ye said, O house of Israel: for I know the things that come into your mind, every one of them. 6Ye have multiplied your slain in this city, and ye have filled the streets thereof with the slain. 7Therefore thus saith the Lord Yhwh; Your slain whom ye have laid in the midst of it, they are the flesh, and this city is the caldron: but I will bring you forth out of the midst of it.

Commentaries on Ezekiel 11:5
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 1-11The Spirit showed Ezekiel God's view of Jerusalem, then let him hear the city's people. The wicked advisors claimed that although the Babylonian attack (the fire) was difficult (hot), the city's defenses (the pot) were strong enough to protect them (the meat). These advisors encouraged people to build houses on stolen land (see Ezekiel 11:15, 17), believing they would be safe. God, however, was determined to judge the wicked.Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 55. Spirit ... fell upon me--stronger than "entered into me" (Eze 2:2; 3:24), implying the zeal of the Spirit of God roused to immediate indignation at the contempt of God shown by the scorners. I know--(Psa 139:1-4). Your scornful jests at My word escape not My notice.Read the comment
