Context of Psalms 18:46
44As soon as they hear of me, they submit; foreign nations cringe before me. 45They all lose their courage and come trembling from their strongholds. The Lord lives! Praise to my Rock! May the God of my salvation be exalted! 47He is the God who pays back those who harm me; he subdues the nations under me 48and rescues me from my enemies. You hold me safe beyond the reach of my enemies; you save me from violent opponents.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 46The Lord liveth - Yahweh - the name used here - is often described as the living God in contradistinction to idols, who are represented as without life, Deuteronomy 5:26; Joshua 3:10; 2 Kings 19:4; Psalm 42:2; Matthew 16:16; 1 Thessalonians 1:9. Compare Psalm 115:5; Psalm 135:16. It is probably in allusion to this idea that the phrase “The Lord liveth” is used here.
