Context of Psalms 31:7
5Into your hands I commit my spirit; deliver me, Lord, my faithful God. 6I hate those who cling to worthless idols; as for me, I trust in the Lord. I will be glad and rejoice in your love, for you saw my affliction and knew the anguish of my soul. 8You have not given me into the hands of the enemy but have set my feet in a spacious place. 9Be merciful to me, Lord, for I am in distress; my eyes grow weak with sorrow, my soul and body with grief.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 7Thou hast known my soul in adversities - When all forsook me; when none could help me; when I could not save my own life; when my enemies were sure that I could not escape; then I found thee to be my Friend and Supporter. When friend, so called, finds it convenient not to know his friend in affliction and poverty, then thou didst acknowledge me as thine own, all worthless as I was. Human friendships may fail; but the Friend of sinners never fails. Cicero…Read the comment
