Context of Psalms 132:4

2How he sware unto the Lord, and vowed unto the mighty God of Jacob; 3Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed; I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids, 5Until I find out a place for the Lord, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob. 6Lo, we heard of it at Ephratah: we found it in the fields of the wood.

When David wanted to bring the ark to Jerusalem (Psalm 132:1–5), the Lord agreed and made Jerusalem his earthly home (132:6–10). God’s choice of Jerusalem also shows his choice: of David's family line (Psalm 132:11–13), of Zion (Psalm 132:14–17), and of the priesthood (Psalm 132:9, 16).Read the comment
