Context of Psalms 119:84
82My eyes have become strained from looking for your promise. I ask, “When will you comfort me?” 83Although I have become like a shriveled and dried out wineskin, I have not forgotten your laws. What is left of my life? When will you bring those who persecute me to justice? 85Arrogant people have dug pits to trap me in defiance of your teachings. 86(All your commandments are reliable.) Those people persecute me with lies. Help me!

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 84How many are the days of thy servant? - I cannot hope to live long. I am sinking under my burdens. If I am, therefore, to see the accomplishment of my desires - my deliverance from my enemies and my troubles - it must be soon. He was become like a leathern bottle, which, if hung up in the smoke, is dried and shrivelled up. We must ever be mindful of God's statutes. The days of the believer's mourning shall be ended; they are but for a…Read the comment
