Context of Leviticus 2:14
12You may bring them to the Lord as offerings of your first products. But they must never be placed on the altar to make a soothing aroma. 13Also put salt on each of your grain offerings. The salt of God’s promise must never be left out of your grain offerings. Put salt on all your offerings. “If you bring a grain offering to the Lord from the first grain you harvest, roast the cracked grain over fire. 15Put olive oil on it, and place incense on it. It is a grain offering. 16The priest will burn the flour, olive oil, and all the incense as a reminder. It is an offering by fire to the Lord.”

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 14Green ears of corn dried by the fire - Green or half-ripe ears of wheat parched with fire is a species of food in use among the poor people of Palestine and Egypt to the present day. As God is represented as keeping a table among his people, (for the tabernacle was his house, where he had the golden table, shewbread, etc)., so he represents himself as partaking with them of all the aliments that were in use, and even sitting down with the poor to a repast…Read the comment

It was designed to be an early tribute of pious thankfulness for the earth's increase, and it was offered according to the usual directions.Read the comment
