Context of Judges 10:12
10Then the people of Israel cried out to the Lord for help. They said, “We have sinned against you. We have abandoned our God and served other gods—the Baals.” 11The Lord said to the people of Israel, “When the Egyptians, the Amorites, the Ammonites, the Philistines, the Sidonians, the Amalekites, and the Maonites oppressed you, you cried out to me for help. Didn’t I rescue you from them? 13But you still abandoned me and served other gods. That’s why I won’t rescue you again. 14Cry out for help to the gods you chose. Let them rescue you when you’re in trouble.”

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 10-18Verses 10-18 God is able to multiply men's punishments according to the numbers of their sins and idols. But there is hope when sinners cry to the Lord for help, and lament their ungodliness as well as their more open transgressions. It is necessary, in true repentance, that there be a full conviction that those things cannot help us which we have set in competition with God. They acknowledged what they deserved, yet prayed to God not to deal with them…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 6-16The Lord responded to his people's complete abandonment by allowing severe oppression (Judges 10:8). As usual, Israel called out to the Lord for help (Judges 10:10) only after facing great hardship (10:9). Normally, Israel's cry led to divine help, but God's choice to leave them to their chosen gods marks a change in the cycle described in Judges 2:10–19. Only when the Israelites put aside their foreign gods and served the Lord did he act to save them…Read the comment
