Context of Genesis 29:1
Jacob continued on his trip and came to the land in the east. 2He looked around, and out in a field he saw a well with a large stone over the opening. Three flocks of sheep were lying down near it, because the flocks were watered from that well. 3When all the flocks were gathered there, the stone would be rolled off the opening of the well so that the sheep could be watered. Then the stone would be put back in place over the opening of the well.

Commentaries on Genesis 29:1
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 1Then Jacob went on his journey - The original is very remarkable: And Jacob lifted up his feet, and he traveled unto the land of the children of the east. There is a certain cheerfulness marked in the original which comports well with the state of mind into which he had been brought by the vision of the ladder and the promises of God. He now saw that having God for his protector he had nothing to fear, and therefore he went on his way rejoicing. People of…Read the comment

- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 1Jacob resumed his journey: The Hebrew text can be literally translated as he "lifted up his feet," suggesting he felt inspired. He continued his journey with renewed enthusiasm. This change in attitude came from the vision he received at Bethel. It was a wonderful revelation that God would protect and bless him. Now, he expected God's promises to come true, not only to escape from Esau. Jacob’s attitude had become positive and magnanimous to the point of…Read the comment
