Context of Deuteronomy 25:13
11This is what you must do when two men are fighting and the wife of one of them comes to rescue her husband from the man who is beating him. If she tries to stop the fight by grabbing the other man’s genitals, 12cut off her hand. Have no pity on her. Never carry two sets of weights, a heavier one and a lighter one. 14Never have two kinds of measures in your house, a larger one and a smaller one. 15Use accurate and honest weights and measures. Then you will live for a long time in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 13Divers weights - ואבן אבן eben vaaben, a stone and a stone, because the weights were anciently made of stone, and some had two sets of stones, a light and a heavy. With the latter they bought their wares, by the former they sold them. In our own country this was once a common case; smooth, round, or oval stones were generally chosen by the simple country people for selling their wares, especially such as were sold in pounds and half pounds. And hence the…Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 13-19Verses 13-19 Honesty in trade, as a duty to our neighbor, is emphatically enforced once more (compare Leviticus 19:35-36). It is noteworthy that John the Baptist puts the like duties in the forefront of his preaching (compare Luke 3:12 ff); and that “the prophets” (compare Ezekiel 45:10-12; Amos 8:5; Micah 6:10-11) and “the Psalms” Proverbs 16:11; Proverbs 20:10, Proverbs 20:23, not less than “the Law,” especially insist on them. - Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 13-1613-16. Thou shalt not have ... divers weights--Weights were anciently made of stone and are frequently used still by Eastern shopkeepers and traders, who take them out of the bag and put them in the balance. The man who is not cheated by the trader and his bag of divers weights must be blessed with more acuteness than most of his fellows [Roberts]. (Compare Pr 16:11; 20:10).Read the comment
