Context of Psalms 84:12
10I would rather be near your temple for one day than have a thousand days anywhere else. I would rather stand near the door of God's temple than live among wicked people. 11The Lord God is like a sun and a shield for his people. He is kind to his people and he gives glory to them. To those who do what is right, he gives every good thing that they need. Lord Almighty, you have truly blessed everyone who trusts in you!

His lot is a happy one; happy in thy friendship; happy in being permitted to worship thee; happy in the blessings which religion scatters along his path here; happy in thy sustaining grace in times of trial; happy in the support given in the hour of death; happy in the eternity to which he is going. - Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 8-12Verses 8-12 In all our addresses to God, we must desire that he would look on Christ, his Anointed One, and accept us for his sake: we must look to Him with faith, and then God will with favour look upon the face of the Anointed: we, without him, dare not show our faces. - Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 1-12The psalmist deeply longs for God's presence. He feels weak with longing as he thinks about the temple and the pilgrims traveling to Jerusalem (Psalm 84:1–7). He prays for himself and the community (Psalm 84:8–9). The end of the psalm (Psalm 84:10–12) shows that the temple represents God. The psalmist truly desires God's presence. He understands that God's goodness is better than life and that only God can grant his people favor and honor (Psalm 84:10–11).Read the comment
