Context of Psalms 41:2
1If someone is kind to poor people, God blesses him. When he is in trouble, the Lord rescues him. The Lord keeps him safe. The Lord saves his life! God causes him to be happy here in the land where he lives. The Lord will not put him under the power of his enemies. 3The Lord takes care of him when he is ill in bed. Whenever he is ill, you will make him completely well again. 4I said, ‘Lord be kind to me and forgive me. I have done wrong things against you, but please make me well again.’

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 2The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive - It is worthy of remark, that benevolent persons, who consider the poor, and especially the sick poor; who search cellars, garrets, back lanes, and such abodes of misery, to find them out, (even in the places where contagion keeps its seat), very seldom fall a prey to their own benevolence. The Lord, in an especial manner, keeps them alive, and preserves them; while many, who endeavor to keep far from the…Read the comment

This principle is often referred to in the Scriptures. See Psalm 1:3, note; Psalm 37:3-4, note; Psalm 37:11, note; Psalm 37:23-26, note; Psalm…Read the comment
