Context of Psalms 29:7
5When the Lord shouts, even the cedar trees break! Yes! The Lord breaks the great cedar trees of Lebanon. 6He makes Lebanon jump like a calf. He causes Hermon mountain to shake like a young bull jumps. The Lord's voice makes fire like lightning in the sky. 8When the Lord shouts, the desert shakes! He makes the Kadesh desert shake! 9When the Lord shouts, the big oak trees bend over. The leaves fall off all the trees in the forests. But in his temple, everyone says, ‘He is great!’

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 7Divideth the flames of fire - Margin, “cutteth out.” The Hebrew word - חצב châtsab - means properly “to cut, to hew, to hew out;” as, for example, stones.
