Context of Psalms 118:23
21I will thank you, Lord, because you answered my prayer. You have rescued me. 22The builders threw away a certain stone. But now that stone has become the most important stone at the corner of the building. The Lord has done this. And we can see that it is wonderful! 24This is the day that the Lord has done a great thing. We will be very happy today! 25Lord, please save us now! Lord, please help us to do well!

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 23This is the Lord‘s doing - Margin, as in Hebrew, “This is from the Lord.” That is, It is to be traced to the Lord alone. It is not the result of human wisdom or power. The deliverance from danger - the raising up from the low condition - the change by which he who was rejected was restored to his rightful place - all this was to be traced to God alone. So it was in the case of the psalmist; so it was in the case of the Redeemer. None but God could have…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 19-29Verses 19-29 Those who saw Christ's day at so great a distance, saw cause to praise God for the prospect. The prophecy, ver. #(22-23), may refer to David's preferment; but principally to Christ. 1. His humiliation; he is the Stone which the builders refused: they would go on in their building without him. This proved the ruin of those who thus made light of him. Rejecters of Christ are rejected of God. 2. His exaltation; he is the chief Cornerstone in the…Read the comment

It may here denote God's wondrous exaltation to power and influence of him whom the rulers of the nation despised.
