Context of Judges 3:31
29That day they killed about 10,000 Moabite soldiers. They were all strong, brave fighters, but none of them escaped. 30The Israelites won the fight against Moab that day. The land of Israel had peace for 80 years. After this, Anath's son Shamgar became Israel's leader. One time, he used a stick with a sharp point to kill 600 Philistines. He rescued the Israelites from their enemies, as Ehud had done.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 31And after him was Shamgar the son of Anath - Dr. Hales supposes that "Shamgar's administration in the West included Ehud's administration of eighty years in the East; and that, as this administration might have been of some continuance, so this Philistine servitude which is not noticed elsewhere, might have been of some duration; as may be incidentally collected from Deborah's thanksgiving, Judges 5:6." God raised up Shamgar to deliver them; having neither sword nor spear, he took an ox-goad, the instrument next at hand.
