Hosea 1:10
10In the future, nobody will be able to count the number of Israel's people. They will be as much as the sand on the shore of the sea. God has said to them, ‘You are not my people.’ But at that time, he will say to them, ‘You are children of the God who lives!’

Context of Hosea 1:10
8After Lo-Ruhamah stopped drinking Gomer's milk, Gomer became pregnant again. She gave birth to another son. 9Then the Lord said, ‘Call him Lo-Ammi. This is because you Israelites are not my people. I am not your God.’ In the future, nobody will be able to count the number of Israel's people. They will be as much as the sand on the shore of the sea. God has said to them, ‘You are not my people.’ But at that time, he will say to them, ‘You are children of the God who lives!’ 11Then the people of Judah and the people of Israel will come together again. They will choose a single leader to rule them. They will return to live in their own land. They will know that the day of Jezreel is a great day.

Commentaries on Hosea 1:10
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 10Yet the number of the children of Israel - God had promised that the children of Israel should be as the sand of the sea. See Genesis 32:12; Romans 9:25, Romans 9:26. And though for their iniquities he had thinned and scattered them, yet the spirit and design of his promise and covenant shall be fulfilled. An Israel there shall be. In the place of the reprobated people, who were now no longer his people, there shall be found an Israel that shall be the…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 8-11Verses 8-11 The rejection of Israel for a time, is signified by the name of another child: call him Lo-ammi, "not my people." The Lord disowns all relation to them. We love him, because he first loved us; but our being cast out of covenant, is owing to ourselves and our folly. Mercy is remembered in the midst of wrath; the rejection, as it shall not be total, so it shall not be final. The same hand that wounded, is stretched forth to heal. Very precious…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 10the sand of the sea: This promise of future population growth for God's people repeats the promise given to the patriarchs Abraham and Jacob (Genesis 22:17; 32:12). they will be called ‘sons of the living God.’: This phrase is unique in the Old Testament, but Paul quoted it (Romans 9:26) to show that God had also called the gentiles (non-Jewsish people) to salvation.Read the comment

Spiritually, the believing seed of Jacob or Israel, Gentiles as well as Jews, numerous "as the sand" (Ge 32:12); the Gentiles, once not God's people, becoming His "sons" (Joh 1:12; Ro 9:25, 26; 1Pe 2:10; 1Jo 3:1).
