Context of Deuteronomy 10:21
19You too must love the foreign people who live among you. Remember that you also lived as foreigners in Egypt at one time. 20Respect and obey the Lord your God. Serve him faithfully. If you make a promise, only use his name to do that. He is the one that you should praise. He is the God that you worship. He has done great and powerful things to help you, and you saw him do them. 22When your ancestors went to Egypt, they were only 70 people. Now the Lord your God has caused you to become very many people. You are as many as the stars in the sky!

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 21He is thy praise - It is an eternal honor to any soul to be in the friendship of God. Why are people ashamed of being thought religious? Because they know nothing of religion. He who knows his Maker may glory in his God, for without him what has any soul but disgrace, pain, shame, and perdition? How strange is it that those who fear God should be ashamed to own it, while sinners boldly proclaim their relationship to Satan!Read the comment

We must love him, and delight in communion with him. We must walk in the ways in which he has appointed us to walk. We must serve him with all our heart and soul. What we do in his service we must do cheerfully, and with good will. We must keep his commandments. There is true honour and pleasure in obedience. We must give honour to God; and…Read the comment
