Context of 2 Chronicles 9:12
10King Hiram's men had brought gold from Ophir. King Solomon's men had helped them to do this. They also brought very good wood, and valuable jewels. 11The king used the wood to make steps for the Lord's temple and for the king's palace. He also used it to make harps and lyres for the musicians. Nobody had ever seen things like those in Judah. King Solomon gave to the Queen of Sheba everything that she wanted. He gave more things to her than she had brought to him. Then she left with all her servants and she returned to her own country. 13Solomon received 25 tons of gold each year. 14He also received money from traders and from people who travelled to buy things. The kings of Arabia and the rulers of each region in Israel also brought gold and silver to Solomon.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 12Beside that which she had brought unto the king - In 1 Kings 10:13; it is stated that Solomon gave her all she asked, besides that which he gave her of his royal bounty. It is not at all likely that he gave her back the presents which she brought to him, and which he had accepted. She had, no doubt, asked for several things which were peculiar to the land of Judea, and would be curiosities in her own kingdom; and besides these, he gave her other valuable…Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 1-12Verses 1-12 The narrative here is parallel with that in marginal reference, from which it varies but little, and to which it adds nothing. 2 Chronicles 9:11 Terraces - Rather, as in the margin, “stairs” (see the 1 Kings 10:12 note). 2 Chronicles 9:12 Beside that which she had brought unto the king - It is difficult to assign any sense to these words as they now stand in the Hebrew text.
