Context of 2 Chronicles 9:12
10(Huram’s servants, aided by Solomon’s servants, brought gold from Ophir, as well as fine timber and precious gems. 11With the timber the king made steps for the Lord’s temple and royal palace as well as stringed instruments for the musicians. No one had seen anything like them in the land of Judah prior to that.) King Solomon gave the queen of Sheba everything she requested, more than what she had brought him. Then she left and returned to her homeland with her attendants. 13Solomon received 666 talents of gold per year, 14besides what he collected from the merchants and traders. All the Arabian kings and the governors of the land also brought gold and silver to Solomon.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 12Beside that which she had brought unto the king - In 1 Kings 10:13; it is stated that Solomon gave her all she asked, besides that which he gave her of his royal bounty. It is not at all likely that he gave her back the presents which she brought to him, and which he had accepted. She had, no doubt, asked for several things which were peculiar to the land of Judea, and would be curiosities in her own kingdom; and besides these, he gave her other valuable…Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 1-12Verses 1-12 The narrative here is parallel with that in marginal reference, from which it varies but little, and to which it adds nothing. 2 Chronicles 9:11 Terraces - Rather, as in the margin, “stairs” (see the 1 Kings 10:12 note). 2 Chronicles 9:12 Beside that which she had brought unto the king - It is difficult to assign any sense to these words as they now stand in the Hebrew text. A slight alteration will give the meaning: “Beside that which the…Read the comment

The Queen of Sheba Visits Solomon; She Admires His Wisdom and Magnificence. 1-4. when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon--(See on 1Ki 10:1-13). It is said that among the things in Jerusalem which drew forth the admiration of Solomon's royal visitor was "his ascent by which he went up into the house of the Lord."
