Context of 1 Kings 7:17
15Hiram made two bronze pillars. Each pillar was 8.2 metres high and 5.5 metres around the outside. The metal itself was about 7 centimetres thick. 16He also used bronze to make a top for each pillar. Each piece was 2.3 metres high. Each piece had pictures like rows of chains that joined together. There were seven pictures like this on the top of each pillar. 18Hiram also made pictures of two rows of pomegranates around the chains. They covered the tops of the pillars. 19The tops of the two pillars were in the shape of flowers called lilies. Each one was 1.8 metres high.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 17Nets - Rather “Nets chequerwise, and festoons chainwise,” - probably a fine network over the whole, and chainwork hanging in festoons outside. Seven for the one chapiter - The Septuagint reading is preferable. “A net for the one chapiter and a net for the other chapiter.” Compare 1 Kings 7:41.Read the comment

"Jachin," God will fix this roving mind. It is good that the heart be established with grace. "Boaz," In him is our strength, who works in us both to will and to do. Spiritual strength and stability are found at the door of God's temple, where we must…Read the comment

- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 15-2215-22. two pillars of brass of eighteen cubits high--They were made of the brass (bronze) which was taken from the king of Zobah (1Ch 18:8).
