Context of Mark 8:10
8And they ate and were satisfied. And they took up of fragments that remained seven baskets. 9And they [that had eaten] were about four thousand; and he sent them away. And immediately going on board ship with his disciples, he came into the parts of Dalmanutha. 11And the Pharisees went out and began to dispute against him, seeking from him a sign from heaven, tempting him. 12And groaning in his spirit, he says, Why does this generation seek a sign? Verily I say unto you, A sign shall in no wise be given to this generation.

When he arrived, the Pharisees came to argue with him. They demanded that Jesus show them a miracle as proof (compare 7:1–23). We do not know where Dalmanutha was located. Matthew 15:39 uses the name Magadan instead of Dalmanutha when describing this place.Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 1010. And straightway he entered into a ship--"into the ship," or "embarked." with his disciples, and came into the parts of Dalmanutha--In Matthew (Mt 15:39) it is "the coasts of Magdala." Magdala and Dalmanutha were both on the western shore of the lake, and probably not far apart. From the former the surname "Magdalene" was probably taken, to denote the residence of Mary Magdalene.
