Context of John 6:35
33For the bread of God is he who comes down out of heaven and gives life to the world. 34They said therefore to him, Lord, ever give to us this bread. [And] Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life: he that comes to me shall never hunger, and he that believes on me shall never thirst at any time. 36But I have said to you, that ye have also seen me and do not believe. 37All that the Father gives me shall come to me, and him that comes to me I will not at all cast out.

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 28-35Verses 28-35 Constant exercise of faith in Christ, is the most important and difficult part of the obedience required from us, as sinners seeking salvation. - Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 35In the Gospel of John, the “I am” statements reveal who Jesus is and what he came to do (see also 4:26; 8:12; 9:5; 10:7–9, 11–14; 11:25; 14:6; 15:1–5). Jesus used the words I am on purpose. These words would remind his listeners of the name of God in the Old Testament (Exodus 3:14). I am the bread of life: Jesus is the true manna that came from God (John 6:38). He satisfies the spiritual hunger of those who believe in him (compare 4:10–13).Read the comment
