Context of Ezekiel 36:12
10And I will multiply men upon you, all the house of Israel, the whole of it; and the cities shall be inhabited, and the waste places shall be builded. 11And I will multiply upon you man and beast, and they shall increase and bring forth fruit; and I will cause you to be inhabited as [in] your former times, yea, I will make it better than at your beginnings: and ye shall know that I [am] Jehovah. And I will cause men to walk upon you, even my people Israel; and they shall possess thee, and thou shalt be their inheritance, and thou shalt no more henceforth bereave them of children. 13Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because they say unto you, Thou devourest men, and hast bereaved thy nation, 14therefore thou shalt devour men no more, neither bereave thy nation any more, saith the Lord Jehovah;

Commentaries on Ezekiel 36:12
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 12-13God intended the land to provide plenty for his people and their children. Instead, it took their children and consumed its own people. This happened because Israel did not follow the covenant, leading to the Lord's judgment with disastrous effects for them and their children (see Ezekiel 5:17). Now that the people were changing, they would receive the covenant blessing of a fruitful land.Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 1212. to walk upon you--O mountains of Israel (Eze 36:8)! thee ... thou--change from plural to singular: O hill of Zion, singled out from the other mountains of Israel (Eze 34:26); or land. thou shall no more ... bereave them of men--Thou shalt no more provoke God to bereave them of children (so the ellipsis ought to be supplied, as Ezekiel probably alludes to Jr 15:7, "I will bereave them of children").Read the comment
