Context of Judges 18:10
8When the men went back to their relatives at Zorah and Eshtaol, their relatives asked them, “What did you find out?” 9They answered, “Come on, let’s attack them, for we have seen the land, and it is very good. Why wait? Don’t hesitate to go and invade and take possession of the land! When you get there, you will come to an unsuspecting people and a spacious land, for God has handed it over to you. It is a place where nothing on earth is lacking.” 11Six hundred Danites departed from Zorah and Eshtaol armed with weapons of war. 12They went up and camped at Kiriath-jearim in Judah. This is why the place is still called the Camp of Dan today; it is west of Kiriath-jearim.

Commentaries on Judges 18:10
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 9-10The language is similar to the report after the mission to explore the land (Numbers 14:7–8; Deuteronomy 1:25), but the context is very different. Joshua and Caleb overcame their fear and acted with faith by remembering the Lord’s promise (compare Joshua 2:9, 24; 6:2; 10:19, 30). The Danite warriors asked for God’s blessing and saw the land's value, but their overconfidence contrasts with the strong faith of Joshua and Caleb.Read the comment

The place was very secluded--the soil rich in the abundance and variety of its produce, and the inhabitants, following the peaceful pursuits of agriculture, lived in their fertile and sequestered valley, according to the Zidonian style of ease and security, happy among themselves, and maintaining little or no communication with…Read the comment
