Context of Isaiah 14:3
1For the Lord will have compassion on Jacob and will choose Israel again. He will settle them on their own land. The resident alien will join them and be united with the house of Jacob. 2The nations will escort Israel and bring it to its homeland. Then the house of Israel will possess them as male and female slaves in the Lord’s land. They will make captives of their captors and will rule over their oppressors. When the Lord gives you rest from your pain, torment, and the hard labor you were forced to do, 4you will sing this song of contempt about the king of Babylon and say: How the oppressor has quieted down, and how the raging has become quiet! 5The Lord has broken the staff of the wicked, the scepter of the rulers.

Commentaries on Isaiah 14:3
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 3In the day "In that day" - ההוא ביום bayom hahu . The word ההוא hahu is added in two MSS. of Kennicott's, and was in the copies from which the Septuagint and Vulgate translated: ͅ ̔ͅ ͅ, in die illa, (̔ͅ , MS. Pachom. adding ה ), in that day. This is a matter of no great consequence: however, it restores the text to the common form, almost constantly used on such occasions; and is one among many instances of a word apparently lost out of the printed copies.Read the comment
