Context of Ezekiel 40:25
23The inner court had a gate facing the north gate, like the one on the east. He measured the distance from gate to gate; it was 175 feet. 24He brought me to the south side, and there was also a gate on the south. He measured its jambs and portico; they had the same measurements as the others. Both the gate and its portico had windows all around, like the other windows. It was 87½ feet long and 43¾ feet wide. 26Its stairway had seven steps, and its portico was ahead of them. It had palm trees on its jambs, one on each side. 27The inner court had a gate on the south. He measured from gate to gate on the south; it was 175 feet.

- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 20-27The north gateway and the south gateway are described in similar ways to the east gateway. However, the description gives fewer details than it does for the east gateway. Even so, these gates were strong and impressive structures. Like the east gateway, they served as a powerful defensive barrier. They were meant to prevent any defilement (anything unclean or impure) from entering the sacred area. There was no west gateway to either the outer court or the…Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 20-2720-27. The different approaches corresponded in plan. In the case of these two other gates, however, no mention is made of a building with thirty chambers such as was found on the east side. Only one was needed, and it was assigned to the east as being the sacred quarter, and that most conveniently situated for the officiating priests.Read the comment
