Context of Ezekiel 39:20
18You will eat the flesh of mighty men and drink the blood of the earth’s princes: rams, lambs, male goats, and all the fattened bulls of Bashan. 19You will eat fat until you are satisfied and drink blood until you are drunk, at my sacrificial feast that I have prepared for you. At my table you will eat your fill of horses and riders, of mighty men and all the warriors. This is the declaration of the Lord God.’ 21“I will display my glory among the nations, and all the nations will see the judgment I have executed and the hand I have laid on them. 22From that day forward the house of Israel will know that I am the Lord their God.

Times of great deliverances should be times of reformation. Every one should help the utmost he can, toward cleansing the land from reproach. Sin is an enemy every man should strive against. Those engaged in public work, especially of cleansing and reforming a land, ought to be men who will go through with what they undertake, who will be always employed. When…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 18-20In most sacrificial feasts, people eat animals that have been offered as sacrifices. In this feast, the situation is reversed. Animals would eat the bodies of defeated enemies, as if they were rams, lambs, goats, and bulls. This scene is the opposite of the great banquet described in Isaiah 25:6. In that future feast, God’s people are invited to celebrate. Here, God’s enemies become the meal instead of the guests.Read the comment
