Context of Psalms 68:14
12“Kings and their armies flee in haste; she who waits at home divides the plunder. 13Though you lie down among the sheepfolds, the wings of the dove are covered with silver, and her feathers with shimmering gold.” When the Almighty scattered the kings in the land, it was like the snow falling on Zalmon. 15A mountain of God is Mount Bashan; a mountain of many peaks is Mount Bashan. 16Why do you gaze in envy, O mountains of many peaks? This is the mountain God chose for His dwelling, where the LORD will surely dwell forever.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 14When the Almighty scattered kings in it - The Hebrew here is, “In the scattering of (that is, by) the Almighty of kings.” The reference is to the act of God in causing kings to abandon their purposes of invasion, or to flee when their own countries were invaded. Compare Psalm 48:5-6. The language here is so general that it might be applied to any such acts in the history of the Hebrew people; to any wars of defense or offence which they waged. It may have…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 7-14Verses 7-14 Fresh mercies should put us in mind of former mercies. If God bring his people into a wilderness, he will be sure to go before them in it, and to bring them out of it. He provided for them, both in the wilderness and in Canaan. The daily manna seems here meant. And it looks to the spiritual provision for God's Israel. The Spirit of grace and the gospel of grace are the plentiful rain, with which God confirms his inheritance, and from which…Read the comment
