4an ox and a ram for a peace offering to sacrifice before the LORD, and a grain offering mixed with oil. For today the LORD will appear to you.’” 5So they took what Moses had commanded to the front of the Tent of Meeting, and the whole congregation drew near and stood before the LORD. And Moses said, “This is what the LORD has commanded you to do, so that the glory of the LORD may appear to you.” 7Then Moses said to Aaron, “Approach the altar and sacrifice your sin offering and your burnt offering to make atonement for yourself and for the people. And sacrifice the people’s offering to make atonement for them, as the LORD has commanded.” 8So Aaron approached the altar and slaughtered the calf as a sin offering for himself.

- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 6Just as holiness describes God's character, the glory of the LORD shows God's power and majesty (see Ezekiel 1:28; 10:4). God's glory appeared: on Mount Sinai (Exodus 24:16), at the dedication of the tabernacle (Exodus 40:34–35), and in Solomon's temple (1 Kings 8:11; 2 Chronicles 7:1). But God's glory also fills the heavens (Psalm 19:1). The New Testament describes Christ's glory as the image of God (2 Corinthians 4:4), who showed God's glory to the…Read the comment

The first of their official acts was the sacrifice of another sin offering to atone for the defects of the inauguration services; and yet that sacrifice did not consist of a bullock--the sacrifice…Read the comment
