Context of Leviticus 9:6
4Tell Israel's people that they must bring a bull and a male sheep. They must bring them to sacrifice as a friendship offering to the Lord. They will sacrifice them. They must mix grain and oil to offer with them. They must do that because the Lord will appear to them today.’ 5The people brought all the animals and the grain to the door of the Tent of Meeting. Moses and all the people came. And they stood at the door of the Tent of Meeting to worship the Lord. Moses said to the people, ‘The Lord has told you that you must do this. Do it. And then the Lord will show you how great he is.’ 7Moses said to Aaron, ‘Go to the altar. Sacrifice your sin offering and your burnt offering to the Lord. You must do that to pay for your sins and those of the people. Then sacrifice the people's gift. Their offerings are an atonement for the bad things that they have done. The Lord said that you should do this.’ 8Aaron brought the young bull to the altar. He killed it. This was his offering to the Lord to atone for his sin.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 6And the glory of the Lord shall appear - God shall give the most sensible signs of his presence among you; this he did in general by the cloud on the tabernacle, but in this case the particular proof was the fire that came out from before the Lord, and consumed the burnt-offering; see Leviticus 9:23, Leviticus 9:24.Read the comment

- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 6Just as holiness describes God's character, the glory of the LORD shows God's power and majesty (see Ezekiel 1:28; 10:4). God's glory appeared: on Mount Sinai (Exodus 24:16), at the dedication of the tabernacle (Exodus 40:34–35), and in Solomon's temple (1 Kings 8:11; 2 Chronicles 7:1). But God's glory also fills the heavens (Psalm 19:1). The New Testament describes Christ's glory as the image of God (2 Corinthians 4:4), who showed God's glory to the…Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 1-241-7. Moses called ... Take thee a young calf for a sin offering--The directions in these sacred things were still given by Moses, the circumstances being extraordinary. But he was only the medium of communicating the divine will to the newly made priests. The first of their official acts was the sacrifice of another sin offering to atone for the defects of the inauguration services; and yet that sacrifice did not consist of a bullock--the sacrifice…Read the comment
