Context of Exodus 16:7
5Then on the sixth day, when they prepare what they bring in, it will be twice as much as they gather on the other days.” 6So Moses and Aaron said to all the Israelites, “This evening you will know that it was the LORD who brought you out of the land of Egypt, and in the morning you will see the LORD’s glory, because He has heard your grumbling against Him. For who are we, that you should grumble against us?” 8And Moses added, “The LORD will give you meat to eat this evening and bread to fill you in the morning, for He has heard your grumbling against Him. Who are we? Your grumblings are not against us but against the LORD.” 9Then Moses said to Aaron, “Tell the whole congregation of Israel, ‘Come before the LORD, for He has heard your grumbling.’”

Commentaries on Exodus 16:7
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 7Ye shall see the glory of the Lord - Does it not appear that the glory of the Lord is here spoken of as something distinct from the Lord? for it is said He (the glory) heareth your murmurings against the Lord; though the Lord may be here put for himself, the antecedent instead of the relative. This passage may receive some light from Hebrews 1:3; : Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, etc. And as St. Paul's words are…Read the comment

- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 7The Hebrew word translated glory has a deeper meaning than the English word often suggests. In Hebrew, the word points to weightiness, substance, and reality. It describes something solid and important, not something light or short-lived. In English, glory can sound bright or impressive but temporary. The Hebrew idea is stronger. It is closer to royal grandeur. It shows greatness, honor, and true authority.Read the comment
