Context of Psalms 84:8
6Passing through the valley of Weeping they make it a place of springs; Yea, the early rain covereth it with blessings. 7They go from strength to strength; Every one of them appeareth before God in Zion. O Jehovah God of hosts, hear my prayer; Give ear, O God of Jacob. [Selah 9Behold, O God our shield, And look upon the face of thine anointed. 10For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. The psalmist pleads love to God's ordinances. Let us account one day in God's courts better than a thousand spent elsewhere; and deem the meanest place in his service preferable to the…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 1-12The psalmist deeply longs for God's presence. He feels weak with longing as he thinks about the temple and the pilgrims traveling to Jerusalem (Psalm 84:1–7). He prays for himself and the community (Psalm 84:8–9). The end of the psalm (Psalm 84:10–12) shows that the temple represents God. The psalmist truly desires God's presence. He understands that God's goodness is better than life and that only God can grant his people favor and honor (Psalm 84:10–11).Read the comment
