Context of Luke 5:28
26And amazement took hold on all, and they glorified God; and they were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to-day. 27And after these things he went forth, and beheld a publican, named Levi, sitting at the place of toll, and said unto him, Follow me. And he forsook all, and rose up and followed him. 29And Levi made him a great feast in his house: and there was a great multitude of publicans and of others that were sitting at meat with them. 30And the Pharisees and their scribes murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with the publicans and sinners?

The concerns of his own soul, and those of the multitudes to whom he preaches, are sufficient to engross all his attention, and to employ all his powers.Read the comment

Luke 5:29 Made him a great feast - This circumstance “Matthew,” or “Levi” as he is here called, has omitted in his own gospel. This fact shows how little inclined the evangelists are to say anything in favor of themselves or to praise themselves.
