Context of Isaiah 2:5
3And many peoples shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of Jehovah, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of Jehovah from Jerusalem. 4And he will judge between the nations, and will decide concerning many peoples; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning-hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of Jehovah. 6For thou hast forsaken thy people the house of Jacob, because they are filled with customs from the east, and are soothsayers like the Philistines, and they strike hands with the children of foreigners. 7And their land is full of silver and gold, neither is there any end of their treasures; their land also is full of horses, neither is there any end of their chariots.

Commentaries on Isaiah 2:5
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 5O house of Jacob - This is a direct address, or exhortation, of the prophet to the Jews. It is made in view of the fact that God had gracious purposes toward them. He intended to distinguish them by making them the source of blessings to all nations. As this was to be their high destiny, he exhorts them to devote themselves to him, and to live to his honor. The word “house” here means the “family, or nation.” The phrase is applied to the Jews because…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 5Come … let us walk: Walking in God's light (his revelation) leads to a glorious role in his kingdom (see Isaiah 60:1; 1 John 1:7). God is the only light that defeats the darkness of sin and evil (Isaiah 9:2). People cannot create this light on their own (Isaiah 59:9). They must walk in the light God provides, trusting him and obeying his will (Isaiah 50:10). The phrase house of Jacob refers to Israel's special historic relationship with the Lord and their…Read the comment
