Context of Psalms 80:7
5You have fed them the bread of tears, And You have made them drink [bitter] tears in abundance. 6You make us an object of contention to our neighbors, And our enemies laugh [at our suffering] among themselves. Restore us, O God of hosts; And cause Your face to shine on us [with favor and approval], and we will be saved. 8You uprooted a vine (Israel) from Egypt; You drove out the [Canaanite] nations and planted the vine [in Canaan]. 9You cleared away the ground before it, And it took deep root and filled the land.

Commentaries on Psalms 80:7
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 7Turn us again, O God of hosts - This verse is the same as Psalm 80:3, except that here the appeal is to the “God of hosts;” there, it is simply to “God.” This indicates greater earnestness; a deeper sense of the need of the interposition of God, indicated by the reference to his attribute as the leader of hosts or armies, and therefore able to save them.Read the comment
