Context of Isaiah 47:4
2Take millstones [as a female slave does] and grind meal; Remove your veil, strip off the skirt, Uncover the leg, cross the rivers [at the command of your captors]. 3Your nakedness will be uncovered, Your shame will also be exposed; I will take vengeance and will spare no man.” Our Redeemer [will do all this], the Lord of hosts is His name, The Holy One of Israel. 5“Sit in silence, and go into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans; For you will no longer be called The queen of kingdoms. 6I was angry with My people, I profaned [Judah] My inheritance And gave them into your hand [Babylon]. You showed them no mercy; You made your yoke very heavy on the aged.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 4Our Redeemer "Our Avenger" - Here a chorus breaks in upon the midst of the subject, with a change of construction, as well as sentiment, from the longer to the shorter kind of verse, for one distich only; after which the former subject and style are resumed. See note on Isaiah 45:16; (note).Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 4As for our Redeemer - This verse stands absolutely, and is not connected with the preceding or the following. He saw, in vision, Babylon humbled, and, full of the subject, he breaks out into an expression of grateful surprise and rejoicing. O! our Redeemer! it is the work of our Saviour, the Holy One of Israel! How great is…Read the comment
