And the visions were like the vision I saw beside the River Chebar [near Babylon]; and I fell face downward. 4And the glory and brilliance of the Lord entered the temple by way of the gate facing toward the east. Then the Spirit lifted me up and brought me into the inner courtyard; and behold, the glory and brilliance of the Lord filled the temple. 6And I heard One speaking to me from the temple, while a man was standing beside me. 7And He [the Lord] said to me, “Son of man, this is the place of My throne and the place of the soles of My feet, where I will dwell in the midst of the sons (descendants) of Israel forever. And the house of Israel will not again defile My holy name, neither they nor their kings, by their [idolatrous] prostitution and by the corpses and monuments of their kings in their graves,

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 5The spirit took me up - And, to follow this thought for a moment, how many men has this heavenly Spirit taken up; filled them with his own influence, and sent them to every country, and nation, and tongue, and people, to testify the Gospel of the grace of God, and to preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ! - Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 5-7The Spirit took Ezekiel to the inner courtyard. There, he heard the Lord say that the restored temple was his palace, with his throne and footstool. He would live there forever among the people of Israel. Identifying the temple as God's dwelling and seat of power was not new (see, for example, 1 Samuel 4:4). The temple would now be God's throne forever. The sins of his people would never again drive him away from his sanctuary.Read the comment
