Context of Exodus 12:50
48If a stranger living temporarily among you wishes to celebrate the Passover to the Lord, all his males must be circumcised, and then he may participate and celebrate it like one that is born in the land. But no uncircumcised person may eat it. 49The same law shall apply to the native-born and to the stranger who lives temporarily among you.” Then all the Israelites did so; they did just as the Lord had commanded Moses and Aaron. 51And on that very same day the Lord brought the Israelites out of the land of Egypt by their hosts (tribal armies).

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 43-51Verses 43-51 In times to come, all the congregation of Israel must keep the passover. All that share in God's mercies should join in thankful praises for them. The New Testament passover, the Lord's supper, ought not to be neglected by any. Strangers, if circumcised, might eat of the passover. Here is an early indication of favour to the gentiles. This taught the Jews that their being a nation favoured by God, entitled them to their privileges, not their…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 43-50These extra instructions for celebrating Passover mainly refer to outsiders and foreigners (12:43; 12:48). The presence of non-Israelite groups in the community might have led to these rules (12:38). The main point was whether the person was willing to fully join Israel and obey the Lord by being circumcised.Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 15-5115. Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread, &c.--This was to commemorate another circumstance in the departure of the Israelites, who were urged to leave so hurriedly that their dough was unleavened (Ex 12:39), and they had to eat unleavened cakes (De 16:3). The greatest care was always taken by the Jews to free their houses from leaven--the owner searching every corner of his dwelling with a lighted candle. A figurative allusion to this is made (1Co…Read the comment
