Context of Daniel 5:27
25“This is the inscription that was written, ‘mene, mene, tekel, upharsin [numbered, numbered, weighed, and divided].’ 26This is the interpretation of the message: ‘mene’—God has numbered the days of your kingdom and put an end to it; ‘tekel’—you have been weighed on the scales [of righteousness] and found deficient; 28‘peres’—your kingdom has been divided and given over to the Medes and Persians.” 29Then Belshazzar gave the command, and Daniel was clothed with purple and a chain of gold was put around his neck, and a proclamation concerning him was issued [declaring] that he now had authority as the third ruler in the kingdom.

Sinners are pleased with gods that neither see, nor hear, nor know; but they will be judged by One to whom all things are open. Daniel reads the sentence written on the wall. All this may well be applied to the doom of every sinner. At death, the sinner's days are numbered and finished; after death is the judgment, when he…Read the comment
