Chapter 59—“The House of Israel”
PK 703.1
In proclaiming the truths of the everlasting gospel to every nation, kindred, tongue, and people, God’s church on earth today is fulfilling the ancient prophecy, “Israel shall blossom and bud, and fill the face of the world with fruit.” Isaiah 27:6. The followers of Jesus, in co-operation with heavenly intelligences, are rapidly occupying the waste places of the earth; and, as the result of their labors, an abundant fruitage of precious souls is developing. Today, as never before, the dissemination of Bible truth by means of a consecrated church is bringing to the sons of men the benefits foreshadowed centuries ago in the promise to Abraham and to all Israel,—to God’s church on earth in every age,—“I will bless thee, ... and thou shalt be a blessing.” Genesis 12:2.Testimonies for the Church, vol. 8

The Master of the vineyard is now gathering from among men of all nations and peoples the precious fruits for which He has long been waiting. Soon He will come unto His own, and in that glad day His eternal purpose will finally be fulfilled. “Israel shall blossom and bud, and fill the face of the world with fruit.” Isaiah 27:6.From Splendor to Shadow

In this time of “trouble and darkness” and “dimness of anguish” (verse 22), the future was made bright by means of many precious communications to the church of God concerning her future triumph. Judah was to suffer much from Assyrian oppression, and from the scourgings of other nations, and was finally to be carried away captive; yet this sore chastisement, grievous though it might seem at the time, would be used by a merciful Providence as a means of salvation. “By this,” Isaiah declared, “shall the iniquity of Jacob be purged; and this is all the fruit to take away his sin.” Isaiah 27:9. At the close of the period of captivity, those who had remained faithful, together with those who might choose henceforth to serve the living God, were to be permitted to return to the land of their fathers.EGW Writings — Ellen G. Satan claims a right to have those who once stood under his black banner; but who have turned from sin to the living God and have cast their helpless souls upon Jesus. Every soul who takes hold of the merits of Christ by faith has the pledged word of God that they shall make peace with Him. He says, “Let him take hold of my strength, and make peace with me; and he shall make peace with me.” [Isaiah 27:5.]Letters and Manuscripts — Volume 10 (1895)

All I have to say is, Be of good courage. Wait on the Lord, and again I say, Wait on the Lord. We may ask of the human agents and not receive. We may ask of God and He says, Ye shall receive. [John 16:24.] Therefore you know to whom to look; you know in whom to trust. You must not trust in man or make flesh your arm. Lean as heavily as you please upon the Mighty One who hath said, “Let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me; and ye shall make peace with me.” [Isaiah 27:5.] Then wait and watch and pray and work, keeping your face constantly turned to the Sun of Righteousness. Let the bright beams from the face of Jesus shine into your hearts, to shine upon others through you. “Ye are the light of the world. ... Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” [Matthew 5:14, 16.] We must lift up Jesus before the people.Letters and Manuscripts — Volume 10 (1895)

You must be all light in the Lord. Do not eat of any of the garbage that Satan presents before you of unbelief and distrust of your brethren. These conjectures and imaginings have long been cherished; they bring only weakness, but no strength. You love the truth, and you love Jesus, and Jesus loves you; but He has no love for sin. He wants every phase of sin put away. “Let him take hold of my strength that he may make peace with me; and he shall make peace with me.” Isaiah 27:5.Letters and Manuscripts — Volume 10 (1895)

Let the worker present the truth in faith, believing in Jesus as his only efficiency. Let him reverently, devoutly, earnestly, and prayerfully grasp God’s promise and press his petitions before the throne of grace. As he feels a sense of his helplessness and weakness, “Let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me; and he shall make peace with me.” [Isaiah 27:5.] The Holy Spirit will cause the word spoken to act as a two edged sword; the hearers will see that the messenger is presenting the truth as a reality; they will realize that he knows what practical, experimental religion is. If the worker has been in the audience chamber of the Most High, if he has reverently, trustfully, opened his heart to God, that He may work through him, the people will not fail to be impressed with his teaching. When the worker depends wholly upon the higher Power, the God who seeth in secret will hear the supplication of the hungering soul, and will supply His grace richly.Letters and Manuscripts — Volume 11 (1896)

The angels of God will guard every man from the poisonous malaria of temptations of the wicked one, who will rise beyond self and circumstances and surroundings, looking unto Jesus through every mist and fog and cloud, and penetrating by faith the darkest temptations. What will be the privilege of the one who does this? “Let him take hold of my strength,” the Lord declares, “that he may make peace with me, and he shall make peace with me.” [Isaiah 27:5.]Letters and Manuscripts — Volume 11 (1896)

God has a yearning desire to save the purchase of the blood of Christ from the sure result of a wrong course of action, which, if persisted in, will bring upon them the wrath of the rejected Lamb. Mercy, rich and free, is presented in the gift of Christ’s righteousness. Those who scorn this precious gift, who despise and reject the Saviour, who refuse the invitation, “Let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me; and he shall make peace with me.” [Isaiah 27:5.] Reject the offer of the attributes of a character which will constitute them sons and daughters of God. “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name (what name? Immanuel, the Son of God); which were borne, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” [John 1:12-14.]Letters and Manuscripts — Volume 12 (1897)

I plead with you, my brother, my sister, to do diligent work in repulsing the enemy. Resist him through Jesus Christ. Would you be as Canright? The Lord is pitying you, and would save you from such a fate. The Lord will accept you as His servant, to help in saving souls, if you will learn obedience by the things you have suffered. Hold still, watch and pray, and die to self. “Let him take hold of my strength, and make peace with me; and he shall make peace with me.” [Isaiah 27:5.]Letters and Manuscripts — Volume 12 (1897)

We have seen the moving of the Spirit of God upon hearts, and may these dear souls have moral courage to take their stand on the right side in this spiritual crisis with them. To the striving soul, God says, “Let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me; and he shall make peace with me.” Isaiah 27:5. If he will obey, the praying, believing, determined soul receives strength from the Source of strength, and receives from Jesus Christ, the Sun of Righteousness, an imputed power and grace. Then it is known to what party he belongs for he stands under the bloodstained banner of Prince Immanuel.
