Context of Zechariah 5:10
8The angel exclaimed, ‘This is Wickedness!’ Then he shoved her back inside the measuring basket, throwing the lead weight over its mouth. 9After this I lifted up my eyes and behold, I saw two women emerging with the wind in their wings (they had wings like the wings of a stork) and they raised the measuring basket between the earth and the heaven. I asked the angel who was speaking with me, “Where are they taking the measuring basket?” 11He said, “To build a temple for her in the land of Shinar. When it is prepared, she will live there in her own place.”

They are filling the measure of their iniquity; and when it is full, they shall be delivered into the hands of those to whom God sold them for their sins. The woman sitting in the midst of the ephah represents the sinful church and nation of the Jews, in their latter and corrupt age. Guilt is upon the sinner as a weight of…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 5-11The seventh vision continues the theme of cleansing that began when the high priest Jeshua was declared innocent (Zechariah 3:1–10). The removal of wickedness, like the removal of Jeshua’s filthy clothes (Zechariah 3:4), shows God’s gracious forgiveness. This act comes from the covenant-keeping God.Read the comment
