Context of Psalms 17:7
5My steps have kept on Your paths. My feet have not slipped. 6I called upon You, O God, for You will answer me. Incline Your ear to me, hear my speech. Be wonderful with Your lovingkindness, O Savior of those taking refuge at Your right hand from those rising up against them. 8Protect me like the pupil of the eye. Hide me in the shadow of Your wings, 9from the wicked who attack me— my enemies, who surround me.

Yet he lays no claim to such miraculous interpositions; he expects all from God's lovingkindness. The common reading here is חסדיך הפלה haphleh chasadeycha, "distinguish thy holy ones;" but הפלא haple, "do wonders," is the reading of about seventy…Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 7Show thy marvelous loving-kindness - The literal translation of the original here would be, “distinguish thy favors.” The Hebrew word used means properly “to separate; to distinguish;” then, “to make distinguished or great.” The prayer is, that God would separate his mercies on this occasion from his ordinary mercies by the manifestation of greater powers, or by showing him special favor.
