We beseech You, Adonai, prosper us! 26Baruch haba b’Shem Adonai— Blessed is He who comes in the Name of Adonai. We bless you from the House of Adonai. 27Adonai is God, and He has given us light. - Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 25Save now, I beseech thee - These words were sung by the Jews on the feast of tabernacles, when carrying green branches in their hands; and from the נא הושיעה hoshiah nna, we have the word hosanna. This was sung by the Jewish children when Christ made his public entry into Jerusalem. See Matthew 21:9; (note), and see the note there, in which the word and the circumstance are both explained.Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 25Save now, I beseech thee, O Lord - The word save here seems to be used in the general sense of imploring the divine interposition and mercy. It is a part of the word which in the New Testament is rendered “Hosanna” - save now Matthew 21:9 - and is the language which the multitudes employed when they followed the Saviour as he went from the Mount of Olives to Jerusalem. The language which they used on that occasion was borrowed from this psalm, and was…Read the comment

His humiliation; he is the Stone which the builders refused: they would go on in their building without him. This proved the ruin of those who thus made light of him. Rejecters of Christ are rejected of God. 2. His exaltation; he is the chief Cornerstone in the…Read the comment
